Every Friday I open up a discussion topic and ask you for your input, whether that’s recommendations, experiences, thoughts, questions, feelings on a specific topic.
The Threads will stay open so you can join in with, or read, past threads. The threads are public but you can only comment if you’re subscribed to my Substack, so if you’re still on the fence let this be your sign to join us - it’s free and we are lovely!
This week’s discussion question is: What are your biggest rosacea triggers?
If you’re unsure what triggers are, or are still trying to work them out, this post will help!
I’d love for these Threads to be a resource for you to share your knowledge and meet other people in the community, so please comment and do feel free to like and reply to other people as well - we’re all here because we are in the Rosacea Club! 🧡
hello everyone…sorry for my english, i am italian i dont speak it very well but i would like to join the conversation. my worst trigger is the heating…in winter going from the cold outside to the heat in the rooms makes me blush. also the hot shower is terrible for me as for you…and the high temperatures in summer dont help…and here it is 34 degrees even now. Thanks for your support 💪🏻
One of my triggers is cooking, opening a hot oven or cooking over the hob I always seem to be flushed when eating which makes trying to work out food triggers a bit more difficult as I wonder whether it's the heat or the food!! And I love to cook from scratch and make a meal for my family.. not something I can avoid x thanks for reading rosacea friends xxx
I know exacly what you mean. If possible I ask my husband to do the bits that are really hot (opening the oven, getting things out of the oven) so I can avoid that quick blast of heat.
If that's not possible, you could try a few things to keep your face as cool as you can: sucking on an ice cube while cooking, a wet towel around your shoulders/neck to help with temperature, or one of those neck fans you can wear. Anything to counteract the heat will help!
Once I read about triggers on Lex’s blog (thank you!) and started paying attention I realized my worse trigger was hot showers 😢 which I thoroughly enjoy in winter. I now try to make them short or not as hot. Also discovered I can enjoy a hot bath with a cool washcloth on my face and avoid the flare up which is nice.

Your English is fantastic, no need to apologise! The heating in the winter is one of my worst triggers too - it's a guaranteed flush!
Mine too! I dread winter and everywhere turning the central heating up
Same here! Shops in particular seem to really crank it up!

You're very welcome! Hot showers are a biiiig trigger for me, which is horrible in the winter when you really need to thaw yourself out!
