I really enjoyed the menopause article and can totally see the crossover with the misinformation spread on any number of topics. I think it's important to remember the difference between US and UK healthcare legislation, too - medicines advertising is much more tightly controlled in the UK and a much wider range of professionals now have prescribing rights (at the end of an additional qualification) so may well be an expert able to prescribe for a particular condition.
So pleased you enjoyed it, and thank you for raising that point. My POV will always be UK focused, but it's good for any US readers to be aware of what is legal and who is an appropriate person to be offering advice and medical information. Unfortunately, so many people in the health space are not qualified to give advice but the responsibility falls to the consumer to work out who those people are, which is a big burden and sometimes it is simply beyond people. It's very unfair.
Loved this newsletter! While I am hopefully many years away from menopause, I still found that article incredibly informing and feel it can be applied to a lot of areas.
Thank you very much. So pleased you found it interesting, I think the information about menopause is so lacking and as a result many women are so unprepared for such a big change. I'm so pleased there are accounts like Dr Jen Gunter's, sharing information and helping us to understand any misinformation as well
I love every part of the newsletter. It covers such a variety of things - things I already have thoughts about, things I wanted to look at but haven't and new things that make me think oh yes that affects me too but never linked it before.
I guess I do love the reviews on products best because I know you review products honestly and due to developing a fear about trying new products with my rosacea it always helps seeing how you got on. It also helps that we are the same age as I have been wanting to try an eye cream for a few months and thanks to your latest review I have just the no 7 eye cream delivered today!! Looking forward to trying it.
Congratulations Emma, you have won my competition! Please send me an email at talontedlex@hotmail.co.uk with your address details and I'll get your skincare goodies posted out to you x
Thank you so much for saying this. I always wonder if my newsletters are a bit too diverse for some - that they wish I'd only talk about rosacea specifically - but I think so many things are related to rosacea and might be linked without us knowing.
Plus one of my main mantras is that your skin doesn't define you and that goes for me too! I'm a person who has rosacea and a person that also watches TV, reads books, and likes poetry. I see this newsletter as things I would share with you if I knew you in real life, so it makes sense that I'd share lots of different things.
I definitely want to include more product reviews so thank you for that feedback, it's a fine balance so people don't think this is a sale-sy newsletter! x
I totally agree that you/we are more than our rosacea but I guess it's difficult because so many people come to you when they are at their lowest and just been diagnosed so they do want to talk about everything rosacea. I was one of them 4 years ago and it is a compliment to you and the work you do but I know I also love hearing or seeing other things or interests you have because it reminds us that rosacea doesn't define who we are. It is a very small part of us but in those early days it's hard to remember that.
As for reviews on products I wouldn't worry about coming across as a sales newsletter because I think majority of us feel at ease hearing of products from someone with rosacea and how it benefitted or irritated your skin. Also you review a huge range of products, if you were only pushing one brand then I would feel it was a sales pitch! ❤️
Love this compilation! Particularly the section on how sex can affect the skin. A few days post shaving creates the scratchiest stubble on my partner's face and my skin can feel raw for a couple of days after being in such close contact - not something you want to be explaining to someone. And it does sometimes put me off if I know he's recently shaved because it makes my face so angry :( not something I've seen discussed before.
Thank you! So pleased that resonated with you, it must be a really common thing that people with sensitive skin of any kind struggle with, but a conversation I've not heard anywhere else.
Great newsletter, can I say I like all of it!
You can and thank you for saying it! x

Thanks for this news letter and get well soon!
My favourite story was about the Rosary Pea - beautiful but deadly☠️
Thank you very much! I'm already feeling much better thankfully.
That whole article was fascinating - I love hearing from people who have so much knowledge about something I know so little about!
