My Current Supplement Stack
All of the pills, powders, and potions I take every day to keep things ticking along
This is a post I’ve been drafting and tinkering with for a while but one that I keep putting off. For years I’ve avoided talking about food, diet, and anything linked to them, because they are such charged topics.
Over the past 12 years of educating others about rosacea, I have noticed that people have really strong opinions on what other people eat, in what quantities, where things are sourced from, how they’re prepared. And more so than any other topic, this one seems to make people quite aggressive and blinkered in their beliefs.
The amount of time I’ve heard the following phrases:
“You need to give up dairy”
“Everyone should cut out gluten”
“Your skin won’t change unless you go vegan/keto/caveman/*insert whatever diet is currently heralded as a cure on tiktok*”
Or the always-helpful, super-specific, and definitely-grounded-in-thorough-scientific research:
“You just need to heal your gut!”
I don’t doubt that there are people who’ve seen incredible improvements in their skin by making dietary changes. That’s not debated by anyone. Every medical professional who knows anything about rosacea is very familiar with not only the link between the skin and the gut but also that a number of the common rosacea triggers are food-based.
The difference is that medical professionals also say what I’ve said for over a decade: everyone is different, and what works for others may not work for you.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: Anyone who tells you that you need xyz supplement or a specific diet, without relevant medical training, or without scientific evidence that it’s general advice that applies to most people, and without having spoken to you in-depth about your current diet, health concerns, medical history, or lifestyle, is a grifter who wants you to spend your money to line their pockets.
So, with all that said, this post is specific to me: to my needs, my skin, my lifestyle. Some of the supplements below are aimed at my skin, others are used for my other medical issues. I’m sharing this here so you can do your own research to find what works for you.
As I always say, take what you need and leave what you don’t.
